After completing a BA in Political Science at University of Toronto Lynda escaped to BC where she has lived in 22 communities with a variety of work experiences. From Vancouver Island, East and West Kootenays, Northeast and Northwest (including Haida Gwaii), the Okanagan, Shuswap and Cariboo regions, experiences have varied. A Bachelor of Social Work and a teacher’s certificate had Lynda working with adults with special needs for several years, and as a middle school teacher. Stints in the private sector include managing a shopping mall, publishing a daily newspaper and owning an art gallery. Lynda has worked as a Community Economic Development officer and is currently a Community Liaison with Columbia Basin Trust (a Crown Corporation with offices in Castlegar, Golden, Cranbrook and Nakusp). Lynda’s work involves working with communities and organizations to access funding, to build capacity and to serve as a general resource. As part of her role with CBT she administers the Arts, Heritage and Culture funding program with a $706,000 budget. Lynda’s experience in rural communities has been a benefit to her paid and volunteer work over the years.
