Susan has over twenty-six years of experience as a music therapist working in complex care and in hospice care in BC, and as a vocal psychotherapist working with adults. Susan was the director of the Kickstart Choir for the Society for Disabilities, Arts and Culture for many years, culminating in performances at the Kickstart Festivals in 2001 and 2004. She is on faculty at Capilano University in the music therapy department, supervises practicum and internship students, and serves on three professional boards: as Past President of the Music Therapy Association of British Columbia (MTABC), treasurer of the Federation of Associations for Counselling Therapists in BC (FACTBC), and on the board of directors for a new charity which raises money for music therapy, Music Heals. Susan’s doctoral research with Antioch University's Leadership and Change program explored how singing is a healing influence for change and transformation. Susan taught in the Alberta education system and also has worked with adults with developmental challenges in communities in BC and Alberta.
